BIRTHDAY PARTY DECORATIONS

The prefect Hello Kitty® color scheme will be pink, white and bright green. Hang plenty of streamers and add lots of balloons! Your daughter may enjoy making pink and green paper lanterns and tissue flowers to hang as well. Cover your table with a white cloth or sheet. Using a Hello Kitty® toy with a bouquet of balloons attached will create a festive centerpiece. Scatter pink sequins, party confetti or small candies randomly on the tabletop. The Sanrio website has a tremendous amount of free sheets to print out. When colored, these make great additional decorations, place settings etc.

Enlist and artistic teen to paint Hello Kitty® and some of her friends on a large appliance box. Maybe even paint her house and cut doors and windows. For the kids to play in during the party!  One AmazingMoms.com visitor suggests painting a picture of Hello Kitty® on a refrigerator box and cut out a hole next to her face. The children will take turns placing their face in the hole to pose for a picture with their friend Hello Kitty®.

A Special Party Welcome

Upon arrival adorn each guest with a pair of kitty ears (made with a headband) and face painted whiskers and nose. Add a Hello Kitty® necklace and they'll be ready for fun!

While the children are waiting for everyone to arrive, lead them to table where they can write a note and/or their names and a message on a poster board flower, cut from pink or orange poster board. Use gel pens for writing.

PARTY CRAFTS AND ACTIVITIES

Hello Kitty® loves to bake and get creative with her twin sister Mimmy. So, crafts should be a large focus for this party.

  • Upon arrival, give the children some fun coloring sheets, crayons and markers to warm-up until all of the festivities begin. They can then color throughout the party.
  • Decorate a special door knob hanger. Purchase cardboard or craft foam door knob hangers. Decorate with stickers, gel pens stick-on jewels and/or craft foam sticker shapes.
  • Bead friendship bracelets with plastic pony beads and lanyard lacing.
  • You can find some fun Hello Kitty®-themed printables on the Sanrio.com site as well.

The possibilities are endless!

Or you can make your own. You'll need:

  • White bags
  • Pink craft foam or construction paper
  • Black and blue craft foam
  • Construction paper or markers

Trace and cut the kitty head on white paper making a little wider than the bag. While the bag is still folded, trace the image to get the shape of the ears. Then cut along the traced line. Keep in mind that the bag will be a bit square on the sides. Use a glue stick to attack the paper kitty head to the front of the bag. This will add the curved sides. Then add the remaining facial features.
