Part fun investigative game, and part boredom busting activity, your kids will love playing What's in the Bag?! Most of us depend on sight and sound to make our way through this world. So much so, we ignore our sense of touch. Share with your child the rich textures of the world in which we live. This game can also be used as a tool for language development.

What You Need
  • plain paper sack
  • ordinary household items
Instructions
    1.
Put the ordinary household items into the bag. Have your child reach into the bag. How many objects can be identified without looking ?
    2.
In the beginning, ask questions to help build their ability of description: Is the object smooth to touch, sharp, blunt, cold like metal, firm, soft, etc.?
    3.
When your child is ready, increase the challenge by placing several similar objects in the bag. For example: Show her several toy cars. Then place all of the cars into the bag and see if she can distinguish one car from the next.
