Transform your home into party central with these tips for a Transformers® birthday party that's more than meets the eye!
PARTY INVITATIONS
- Mail invitations 2-3 weeks in advance.
- Keep the invitation equation in mind: child's age + 1 = a fun party! For example, if your child is turning four, then invite five children. As children get older, they can probably handle more guests, and so can you.
- Make invitations with cardstock paper and Transformers® stickers. Write this message: "Choose your side... Protect? Destroy? Celebrate? You can do all three at my party!"
BIRTHDAY PARTY DECORATIONS
Set the stage with a Transformers® Party Banner to greet your guests. Decorate your house with balloons and have some Transformers® action figures out for guiests to play with.
BIRTHDAY PARTY GAMES AND ACTIVITIES
Consider renting (or buying) the Transformers® DVDs to show the kids. Just keep in mind that the new versions of TRansformers® are rated PG-13 for a reason. You can also rent or buy the classic 1986 version of Transformers®, which is animated and more appropriate for young children. Pop some popcorn and settle the kids in for a feature film!
When the kids arrive, supply kid-safe (non-toxic) face paint, cotton swabs and a few mirrors. Help them transofrm into their favorite Transformers® character. Or, you can help them add the Transformers® symbol on their cheek.
Transformers® Autobots vs. Decepticons Battle
Directions:
Create an obstacle course in a large safe space using lawn furniture, boards to balance on, ropes, and tires to climb over, etc. Divide the children into two teams. Use red or blue arm bands to distinguish between the teams. The team to achieve the fastest time thorugh the obstacle course wins.
Tip: Depending on the age of the children, it may be appropriate to simply let the children run a the course over and over instead of keeping time.
Autobots vs. Decepticons Freeze Tag
Directions:
Divide the guests into two teams, using red and blue arm bands to distinguish between teams. Select one person from the red team to be "it" and selet one person from the blue team to be "it." Allow kids to run around the yard while "it" from each team attempts to tag members of the opposing team. Once tagged, a player must freeze and can only be unfrozen if a team member crawls through his legs. When time is called, the team with most unfrozen members wins!
Transformers® Hide and Seek
Directions:
Before the party begins, hide Transformers® cards in the yard and around the house (anywwhere you don't mind having guests scampering about). Be sure to hide an equal number of Autobot and Decepticon cards. Once the games begine, divide the guests into towo teams, using red and blue arm bands to distinguish between teams. The blue team is the Autobots, the red team is the Deceptiocons. Each team will search for their own cards and receive a small prize or treat at the end.
Search for the Allspark
Directions:
This is agreat way to end your party. Before the party decorate a cardboard box to look like the Allspark from the Transformers® movie. Fill the box with party favor bags and hide it in the party area. Send the kids with some clues to find the Allspark and their prizes!
Party Tip:
It's always a good ideas to have an extra "Just in case activity" prepared ahead of time. With this party theme it's easy...simply provide a Transformers® game or some action figures/toys that the children can use for free play time.
