Is someone in your family a fan of the epic sci-fi film, Avatar? Transport your guests to the magical world of the Na'vi clan with this get-together inspired by the movie.
INVITATIONSIn the film the Na'vi have a special relationship with nature so consider making invitations in the shapes of large, exotic leaves. Or create Na'vi blue faces which could work for your invitations. You could also get ready-made invitations from Birthday in a Box.
PARTY DECORATIONS
Ask your guests to arrive in blue for the Na'vi. When they arrive, consider having face paint ready to create fun creature faces for each of your guests. You could even have them create their own special Na'vi name for the party.
Transform your home into an exotic jungle with big paper leaves, green streamers, and create fun tissue paper flowers. Consider greeting your guests with a personalized banner.
PARTY GAMES AND ACTIVITIES
If it's a sleepover, or a longer party, then of course having the movie to show the guests would be a great addition. For shorter parties, however, we've got lots of ideas to get you started. Get your guests all dressed up with fun make-up and names (as suggested above), then get the party started!
Tree Planting
This activity would be great if you were throwing the party in a park. If that's too big, then save a bunch of small yogurt containers and have your guests plant individual seeds to take home with them.
Create a Tribe
Get your guests to create their own Na'vi tribe by making special symbols on a big wall mural, coming up with a team dance, and perhaps a team language. You can share some fun ideas of how other tribes bond together - this is a great opportunity to get the kids creating both visually and using their imaginations.
Flying Creatures
To join the Na'vi tribe, each guest must 'fly' on one of the creatures. Turn this into a fun relay race using a box as the creature that each child has to hold around them as they maneuver through an obstacle course.
