ABBY CADABBY BIRTHDAY PARTY INVITATIONS
Mail out invitations 3-4 weeks before the party
Create unique Abby Cadabby magic wand party invitations, using card stock paper and lollipop sticks. Both can be found at your local craft store. Use a pencil and a star shaped cookie cutter to trace a stars on your paper. Cut two stars for each invitation. Glue the stick in between both stars. Decorate one side with a glitter glue pen and write your message:
"Come and share the Magic of _____'s Birthday!"
Then include the party details on the other side of the invitation, and add a sprinkle of glitter into the envelope before mailing.
ABBY CADABBY BIRTHDAY PARTY DECORATIONS
The perfect color scheme for the Abby Cadabby birthday party is pink, lavender, and light blue. Keep it simple with plenty of balloons, streamers, and table decorations.
Or, go all out with either a storybook, or Sesame Street decorating theme for your party. Do you know a talented teen that could help you paint a few large appliance boxes with a storybook flare?
Colored butcher paper and poster board will also come in handy. Dress-up the room with over sized tissue flowers, fairy stars or ideas inspired by the Mother Goose tales.
For a Sesame Street feel, hang posters, large paper alphabet letters, and a homemade Sesame Street street sign on the walls. Abby Cadabby's friends (plush toys) Zoe, Rosita, and Prairie Dawn can be be placed around the party area; they'll double as party favors when the birthday party is over.
Don't forget that playing themed music in the background will enhance the playful mood of this festive occasion!
ABBY CADABBY BIRTHDAY PARTY GAMES
Upon arrival welcome your guest with their own fairy crown and a set of wings; this will set the stage for a really fun party!
Stick the Star on Abby Cadabby's Wand
Abby's magic wand is broken, and the players must repair it!
This game is played just like Pin-the-tail-on-the-Donkey. Use poster board to make the game board and cardstock to make stars.
Draw a simple wand on the poster board, without the star on the end, and add some glitter and other decorations if you choose. Cut stars out of the cardstock. On one side of each star, attach double stick tape and write the a players name on the other side. When it's time to play, gently blindfold a player with a satin sash, spin her gently three times and point her in the direction of the game board. The player will try to stick the star near the tip of the wand. The player with the nearest star is the winner!
TIP: Young players may not want to be blindfolded and they can just close their eyes.
Abby Cadabby Tag
Play this game just like Freeze Tag. Give each player a small pouch of glitter before playing. One player will be "it". When you say "GO" the girls run from "IT". If she tags a player, that player is frozen until another player sprinkles fairy dust on her. Make sure that each player has a turn to be "it," and that each round does not take too long.
ABBY CADABBY BIRTHDAY PARTY CRAFTS
Make a Abby Cadabby Fairy Wand
Have your guests create a pretty wand to take home as a party favor!
Materials:
- small dowel pieces
- pink, purple, and white chenille stems
- star garland
Directions:
Before the party, paint all of the dowel pieces with silver spray paint and cut the garland pieces. During the party, guests will wrap the chenille stems and/or garland around the end of their dowel pieces, to make a "spray" on the end of the wand. You may want to secure the pieces with a hot glue gun (adult use ONLY!). Use a pencil to curl the chenille or garland.
Create a Fairy Friend
This is best for parties of 8 children or less and you will need helping hands. We just adapted our Tinkerbell Fairy Craft to pink for this Abby Cadabby Birthday Party
Materials:
- white coffee filter
- pink/red food coloring
- wooden craft clothes pins
- fine tipped craft pens
- pink yarn
- medicine droppers
Directions:
Before the party, paint the clothes pins with white spray paint. Flatten the coffee filters to make circles. Cover the work area to protect your surfaces. Mix the pink food color with water and pour the mixture into muffin tins or plastic bowls. At the party, the children will use the medicine droppers to drop color onto the coffee filters. It doesn't take very much, as the color will spread. While the filters are drying, help the girls cut small amounts of yarn and glue it to the top of the clothespin for Abby's hair. Use the craft pens to make faces on the heads of the clothes pins. Then "scrunch-up" the now dry pink coffee filter and insert it in the clothespin to make Abby's wings.
TIPS:
- To make this Abby Cadabby birthday party craft even easier, paint the clothes pins pink before the party and use the white coffee filters without food coloring. This will make the body pink and the wing's white.
- Ask an adult to help you dry the coffee filters with a hair dryer to speed things along.
- You may want to make this craft with smaller clothes pins and use yarn to make a necklace with the clothespin as a pendant.
