St. Patrick's Day Fun for Kids
Easy to make shamrock cupcakes and other St. Patrick's Day treats that will
serve up some fun on St. Patrick's Day!

The Shamrock cupcakes are so easy to decorate, even your littlest leprechaun can help!

You'll Need:
cake mix or a cake from scratch
white frosting
green gum drops (the "Dots" candy type work best)
scissors

Make and frost the cupcakes according to the instructions.

Use clean scissors to cut the gum drops horizontally,
into four circles. Then make teh the stem by cutting the smallest circle in half. Or you can cut 3 thicker circles from one gum drop and the stems from another gumdrop - this may be easier for little hands.
Top the cupcakes with the three circles and stem to make your
Shamrock -- it's that easy!

Mint Chocolate Cookies -- frosted and dipped

The frosted cookies pictured above werwe made easily by topping a chocolate cookie with mint flavored frosting. Just use a little bit of green food color and mint extract. If you don't have your own favorite chocolate cookie recipes or no time top bake -- store bought will do just fine.

The mint dipped cookies were made with creme filled sandwich cookies and green Wiltons candy melts. Melt the candy as per the instructions and add a very small amount of mint extract. Then dip the cookies half way into the melted candy. Place them on a sheet of waxed paper to cool. To rush the cooling along, you can place the cookies in the refridgerator.

Pot of Gold Cupcakes
We have two ideas for this fun cupcake.

Easiest:
Frost cupcakes with golden yellow frosting. then insert a few pieces
of gold wrapped chocolate coins into the top.

More difficult:
Frost the cupcakes with green or white frosting. Use scissors to cut strips of fruit licorice in rainbow colors; red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple.
Place the licorice strips on top of the cupcake in a rainbow shape.
Then add one or two gold chocolate coins at the end of the rainbow.

Tip: You may not be able to fit all of your rainbow colors, four will do.
