Tie Dye Birthday Party - Birthday Party Ideas for Kids A Tye Dye Sleepover party is great for pre-teens or teens. You don't even need a birthday for this fun event!  Adding unique Tie Dye party themed items to your table and decorations will help create a "groovy" mood for your party! TIE DYE PARTY DECORATIONS White sheet table cover with a small swatch of tie dye fabric, Lava light , colored party bulbs in small lamps Giant Flowers on the wall. Pillows on the floor for girl talk time...You get the idea. Munchies A cake can be easily decorated in a Tie Dye Motif. Frost first with white. Randomly place food color drops onto frosting. Using a plastic spatula swirl the dye around the top. Place Skittles around the base of the cake for added color. It is really a beautiful effect. It serves best if adequate drying time is given to frosting before cutting and serving. Have music and snacks readily available. Let the Birthday child pick her favorites! For tie dyeing you will need : Before the party purchase a tie dye kit. They usually come with enough dye to make ~ 8 – 15 shirts. They do not come with enough gloves. Purchase a box of latex gloves from the hardware store. You will also need plastic garbage bags for the work space, more rubber bands. Provide pre washed cotton t – shirts, socks, tanks, or boxers. Be sure you have a washer and dryer on the premises. A large bucket will be needed for pre soaking in the dye set solution (provided in the kit). The Kits come with very clear instructions and design ideas. Read them well before party time. I recommend trying one before the party if you have never tie dyed before. The tie dye aspect of the party will take ~ 1 hour or less. Until morning, when the rubber bands are removed and the items are washed, have several games and activities out and available for the kids to hang out with. Our "Bead Party" is a great addition to tie dye .
