A Spring Celebration Party
Host a spring fling for your kids, friends and neighbors with fun outdoor games, spring crafts, gardening activities and fun treats to enjoy.
by Kit Bennett

Neighborhood children are all playing in the streets, I hear the sounds of mowers, flowers are blooming, short sleeves...this could only mean one thing...Spring has arrived!
What a perfect occasion for a party! Include your neighbors and friends,
or spend an afternoon just celebrating spring with your family.

SPRINGTIME INVITATIONS
Show your spring spirit with a simple invitation fashioned with
cardstock paper, and a flower cookie cutter.
Enlist your kid's help tracing the cookie cutter. Cut your flower
shapes and write the party details on the card.
You're invited to Bloomin' Fun Party
Add party details and ask that guests dress for play.

SPRING FLING PARTY DECORATIONS
Not much is needed in the way of decorations for this party. Maybe a few balloons and streamers in spring colors. Cover your table with matching
spring themed party items and add a vase of fresh flowers as a centerpiece.
We like Birthday In a Box's Butterfly pattern for this celebration.

A SPECIAL WELCOME
Upon arrival, treat each guest to a spring flower painted on their cheeks. Face paint recipe >>

GAMES AND ACTIVITIES
Plan a few fun activities to keep children and adults alike entertained.

Watering Can Water Relay
Use a small plastic watering can to move water from one bucket to another.
Fill The Vase Relay
Teams transport a bouquet (one bloom at a time) from a bucket to a vase.
Winning team member receives the vase of flowers as a prize.
Dirt Shoveling Relay
Use a kid safe shovel to carry dirt from a pile to a bucket.
Hopscotch
Use sidewalk chalk on your cement patio, sidewalk or driveway to play a good old fashioned game of hopscotch. How many of the adults will recall playing as kids!

Other fun outdoor activities are bicycle races, jump rope, hula hoop, lawn bowling, badminton.

Planting Time
Provide a terracotta/plastic pot, soil, large spoon or trowel and a marigold flower for each child. Write names on the bottom of the pots before planting. Show the children how to place the soil in the pots, gently remove the plant from it's container, loosen roots, add soil etc.
We chose marigolds because they are hardy and easy to care for.

If it's raining in your neck of the woods, try the games
and activities below...

What Am I?
A springtime guessing game.
Tape pictures or words with a spring theme, to the back of each guest;
gardening gloves, trowel, wheel barrow, butterfly, baby birds, rainbow,
kite, lambs and other baby animals.
They receive clues from the other players to guess what "they are".

Spring Crafts and Activities

Keep it Simple Spring Craft Activity
Provide paper, sticky-backed craft foam shapes, markers, crayons etc.
Enjoy each other's company, while gathering around the table creating a beautiful spring scene. If you've invited family friends or neighbors,
provide each family with a sheet of poster board. They can work together,
to make one large Spring work of art!

Decorate Your Own Plant Stake
Use blank plastic plant stakes from a gardening center and
permanent gel pens or paint pens. The kids will decorate the
stake and add them to their plants.

Make tissue paper flowers or a coffee filter butterfly.

PARTY FAVORS
Fill gardening gloves, watering cans or flower pots with a packet of seeds,
kids gardening gloves, flower shaped gummi candies and stickers.
Exclusive Birthday In a Box favor sets are a fun and unique way to give your guests a special treat! Each of our distinctive favor sets is designed to coordinate perfectly with your party theme.

Or, send guests home with a sweet treat; fill a mini terracotta pot with green jelly beans and a silk daisy. If time allows, write names or decorate the pots with permanent craft pens.

MORE PARTY TIPS
Serve punch from a NEW clean watering can.
Cut sandwiches with a flower cookie cutter.
Make Lollipop flowers with green chenille stems and lollipops.

Make a Garden Cake...with a green frosted sheet cake and add some rock candies, chocolate cookie crumbs and small silk flowers.
