PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN PARTY GAMES AND
ACTIVITIES
The Pirates of the Caribbean movie may be too intense for
younger children. But, they can still enjoy the theme, with these
pirate party games.
Ahoy - Mateys!

Upon arrival, bring the kids into the theme, by giving them black
or red
head scarves. Use an eyeliner pencil to draw beards, mustaches
or skull
and cross bone tattoos.
PIRATE BIRTHDAY PARTY GAMES AND ACTIVITIES
Find the Treasure or Jack
Play like Pin the tail on the donkey--
Before the party, create a map using poster board and markers.
Add a treasure chest or a picture of Jack Sparrow, somewhere on the map.
Then, with black craft foam or paper, cut small pirate flags for each player.
Use a white gel pen to draw a skull and crossbones on one side and double stick tape on the
other. To play, cover the players eyes, one player at a time, with a
pirate's bandana. Spin the player gently 2-3 times, then point him towards the map
where he will attempt to find the treasure with his flag. The
player with the flag closest to the Dead Man's Chest, wins!

Treasure Toss
Fashion a treasure chest from a cardboard box, or use a real chest if you have one. Leave the top off or
open. Make or purchase five bean bags. This is a simple bean bag
toss game where the children will take turns tossing the bean bags
into the box from a pre-determined location.
Variations - For older children, make draw a map on a large
box.
Cut three large holes in the map/box and the children will
attempt to get the bean bags into the holes. Just like a bean bags
toss game at a carnival.
Pirate's Treasure Hunt
It wouldn't be a pirate party without the treasure!

Before the party,
Purchase a Treasure Chest
or fashion your own, from a box. Use paper
and paint to decorate. Remember that this box has been under
water for quite some time, so it doesn't need to be beautiful.
Fill the box with treasure; candy and small toys and then hide
it
in a secret location.
To play:
Present a rolled up old treasure map to the Party Captain,
other wise known as the birthday child.
This map contains the first clue.
For example,
"Don't walk the plank to meet your doom, the first clue's in the living room"
--where they'll find the next clue etc. Leading finally to the LOOT!
Pirate Fishing
This is a simple variation on a carnival "fishing" game,
adapted to match the pirate party theme.
You'll Need: A large sheet of cardboard from an appliance box, clothespins, wood dowels,
fishing line or string, treasure (M&M's, chips, jolly ranchers,
chocolate coins, stickers, small toys, etc.)
bags,
note paper and an adult helper.
Cut 3-4 potholes in the cardboard, adding wood features with a
brown marker if you wish. Stand the cardboard up against some
other boxes,
or make wood stakes. Before the party, make one
or two fishing lines with the dowel, string and clothespins.
Place the food items or prizes into bags if necessary. Write
messages on note paper or index cards: "No treasure this
time, Jack would like to see you in his quarters!" "Beware, the
cannibals are hungry!"
"Arrr, you owe Davey Jones, it's time to pay up!"
To Play:
The adult helper will stand with the treasure and messages on
one side
of the board. The players will take turns casting their fishing
line into the portholes. The helper places a prize or a note onto the clothes pin and the
player reels the line in to see what they received. Players will take
turns until all of the items are distributed. Of course, be sure that
all of the players have received pirate's treasure to take home.
Pirate Battle
Every great pirate story has a roaring battle and so will your
party!
Fashion your ships from cardboard, wood, appliance boxes or even
stacked milk crates. Make a sign for each ship
"The Flying Dutchman" - "The Black Pearl"
Divide the kids into two teams, one for each ship. Provide
cannons
to each team; black foam balls to one team and red for to the
other.
Play the soundtrack music while the kids toss the balls at each
other's ships. When the music stops, which ever teams has the
most balls on the opposing ships' side wins. Explain to the
"pirates" that they can return a cannon that has been tossed
their way.
Variation: If it's a warm sunny day you can certainly play this
game with water balloons!
Cannon Pop
Inflate several black balloons and toss them on the floor. The
object of
the game is for the kids to pop all of the balloons in a
designated period
of time, by sitting on them. If you under-inflate the balloons
this is more challenging.
Sword Fight
For an additional activity as a sword fight using kid-safe foam,
or cardboard swords. Children can do this for an indefinite
period of time.
PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN CRAFT IDEAS
Telescopes
Guests will enjoy making their own telescopes with
paper towel tubes, colored cellophane and
a rubber band. Decorate with stickers,
glitter
and markers.
Make Pirate Flags
Certain pirates are identified by their flags. For this activity
the children
will use craft foam, markers, glitter glue, and other
art supplies to design their own flags.
Before the party, cut the flag shapes from the foam, purchase a bucket of craft foam shapes and some quality craft glue.
You may be able to find craft foam shapes with a sticky
back - that would be easiest.
Pirate Party Cake
Make your own pirate cake with a regular 9x13 sheet cake.
Frost part of the cake blue for the sea. Sand is frosted light brown with toasted coconut
on top. Stand "Play-Mobil" or Fisher- Price
Pirate figures on top. Party supply stores will carry
plastic palm trees and maybe a boat!
PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN PARTY FAVORS
Chocolate gold coins, mini telescopes, plastic jewels, a toy
compass
and candy, all tied up in a black bandana or muslin
cloth sack.
