just in time for the release if the new Mulan 2 movie.

Look up each guests name in Chinese and write it on
a piece of paper.

Attach the paper to a piece of yarn and give to the child
as they arrive.

Decorations:
Color theme will be Red, Green and Gold
Hang Paper lanterns and Chinese new year tissue garlands.
All of which can be purchased at Oriental Trading Company.
Make a Mushu Dragon wall decoration with red paper and red streamers. If you are not particularly artistic...
ask a student you know. They'd love to make a few dollars
for the job.

MULAN AND MULAN 2 PARTY GAMES & ACTIVITIES

Mushu In the Middle -
Play traditional "monkey in the middle" only the  player in the middle ties a red sash around his/her head to become Mushu.  You can also play with two or three players in the middle and the other players tossing a light weight ball back and  forth trying to keep it from Mushu. Rotate the players often
to avoid hurt feelings.

The Three Princesses Relay
Mulan and General Chang are given the job of escorting the Emperor’s three daughters, Ting-Ting, Mei and Su to their
future husbands. In this game divide the players into two or three teams. Use three balloons or balls per team, representing the princesses. Each team has to use pairs of players to carry the  balls back to back - no hands, to a final destination such
as a bucket or laundry basket.

Sword Skills
Mulan is an expert swordswoman and martial artist.
Make or purchase kid-friendly foam or cardboard swords.
Each child will get a sword and a balloon. The object of the game is to keep the balloon from hitting the ground without
using hands - swords only. Play music while the children play and this can go on for quite sometime.

Obstacle Course
Mulan and General Chang are brave but are they brave enough to face these obstacles. Set up your party area or yard with obstacles that the children must go through from start to finish.

MULAN CRAFT IDEAS

Colorful Chinese Lanterns

This simple craft project sets the stage for  your Chinese themed Mulan party, and teaches your guests about another culture. You’ll need several different colors of 8.5” x 11” paper, glue, scissors and markers or theme-related stickers.
They make wonderful decorations, and will inspire your guests to be creative while making theirs.
To Make:
Invite your guests to decorate one side of a sheet of construction paper. When finished, fold each sheet in half lengthwise. Cut 3-inch slits into the fold, parallel to the short edges. Start about an inch from one edge and continue making slits along the length of the paper, leaving 1/2 inch between each slit.

When the cutting is complete, unfold the paper and glue
the short edges together to form a cylinder - see image above
(The folded edge will point outward in the middle.) Note that
the cut strips will make the folded edge “fan” out to look like a Chinese lantern. Finish the lanterns by gluing a paper handle to the top of each one.
Hang and enjoy!

Cherry Blossom Tree
Mulan's family loves to spend time under their favorite Cherry
blossom tree. The children will be making their own Cherry Blossom tree to take home.

You'll Need: brown & white construction paper, small sponge pieces, pink paint, glue sticks
Before the party cut tree trunks from the brown paper.
The children will glue the tree to the white paper and then
use small cut sponges and light pink paint to make the tree blossoms. Older children may be able to cut the tree trunks
by themselves.

Mushu Cupcake -
Children will love these adorable Mushu cupcakes for their birthday party!

You'll Need:
cupcakes, red cupcake liners, red gumdrops (large and small),
yellow fruit-by-the foot or fruit rollups, white chocolate chips,
black decorator frosting, red frosting

Begin with a batch of cupcakes frosted a bright red.
Use food color paste to make the bright red frosting.
For each cupcake, slice a large and small red gumdrop in half. Press the tip of a white chocolate chip into the cut surface of the large halves, near the center of the bottom edge. Press the "dragon eyes" into the frosting around the center of the cupcake. Then press the small gumdrop halves into the front
of the cupcake. Cut thin strips of fruit roll-up and place on the sides of the gum-drop "nose".
