Our favorite on-line
Firefighter pattern from Birthday in a Box
A very cute pattern for little firefighters;
matching decorations, favors sets and personalized items.
FIREFIGHTER PARTY INVITATIONS
Send invitations two weeks before the party.
Purchase matching invitations, or easily make your own with a fire truck die-cut from the craft store and yellow cardstock
paper. Cut the yellow paper into 3x5 size and glue the truck to the front. Trim the edges of the
fire truck with a red glitter glue pen.
On the front write:
"SOUND THE ALARM -- IT'S A PARTY!"
Write your party details on the back of the card.
A SPECIAL VISIT
Well in advance, call your local firehouse or volunteer firefighters.
They may be willing to visit your home during the party ,or give the children a tour of their station house
and a fire truck. Many fire districts have programs already in place
where the children will learn fire safety,
try on UNIFORMS, receive stickers and coloring books.
If this is possible,
it may be all you need in the way of games or activities. You can then
return home to serve a light lunch and birthday cake.
FIREFIGHTER PARTY DECORATIONS
You'll need plenty of red and yellow balloons around the party area.
Cover your table with a white sheet or fire truck fabric. Add color and
sweet treats, by scattering red candies down the center of the party
table. Fashion a simple centerpiece with a bouquet of
balloons tied to a fire truck toy or fire hat.
Advanced Decorating Idea:
Of course it wouldn't be a fireman party with out a fire truck!
Supply a teen helper with a can of red paint and a Large appliance box.
Soon the box will be transformed into a bright red fire truck! Cut
doors
and windows. Adding special touches such as, tin pie plates headlights,
a butcher paper ladder and other decorations...will make this the party
favorite. Provide dress-up fire fighter hats and the children will
supply
the imagination. You may find that little ones will require no other
form
of entertainment.
Personalize It!

Personalized party banners, invitations and stickers add a special touch
to every party!

Junior Firefighters
Guests will be thrilled when they become junior firefighters upon their arrival.
Provide a plastic fire hat and large red tee-shirt to wear for the party. If you
are the crafty type, use fabric pens to make an emblem
on the front. The Internet is a great resource for images that you can
use as a guide.
FIREFIGHTER PARTY GAMES & ACTIVITIES
Party Games Tip
If you are hosting a party for young children, we suggest giving every
player a small prize after all of the games are played. Birthday parties are not the time to teach life lessons of winning, losing
etc...
they are just supposed to be fun!
Pre-school Fire
Truck Game
If your party is a manageable size, make kid-sized fire trucks with
moving boxes, red paint, paper plate wheels and construction paper head
lights.
We used pieces of clothesline to make handles on the sides. Cut
or fold the tops and bottoms of the boxes. The children can step inside and hold the sides while they run and play.
Use these for a game -- run and run but when the alarm
(bell) sounds everyone freezes!
Water Brigade
Carry water from one large bucket to another empty bucket, using a small
beach pail. the children will form two lines and pass the pail from one
player to another until the large filled bucket is empty. They can then
reverse play going in the
other direction.
Firehouse Obstacle Course
Requires a large space or backyard.
Every firefighter has to go through rigorous training before they can receive
their badge.
Set a up an obstacle course with piles of dirt, tires,
stepping stones, caution tape and any other safe
items you can think of. To play, the children will go through the "Fire
Zone"
as fast as they can.
They will probably want to run the course several times.
At the end of the course each child will receive a badge or ribbon for
bravery!
Indoor Fireman Party Games & Activities
Pin the Tail on the Dalmatian
Play just like Pin the tail on the Donkey using a hand drawn
Dalmatian
dog, paper tails and double stick tape.
Fireman Dress-up
Provide some fire hats, boots and over-sized rain jackets.
Add cut pieces of a garden hose for fire hoses!
The children can dress-up and pretend to be firefighters.
Musical Fire Hydrants
or Fire Engines
Before the party use construction paper to make fire hydrants or fire
engines. Laminate or cover them with clear contact paper. To play,
randomly place them on the floor around the party room. Play music while the children move around the room. When the music stops, each child needs to find a Fire hydrant
or fire engine to stand on.
Tips: Barney's Favorites Volume 1
has the "Hurry, Hurry Drive that Fire Truck" song which is perfect
for
this game and while the children are playing with their fire truck boxes.
Fire Engine Party Crafts
Fire Engine Tires
You'll need small fire engine toys with wheels that move,
white paper, red and yellow paint, meat trays or cookie sheets.
Cover the work area. Pour paint in meat trays, or cookie sheets. Place a
few fire trucks in each paint tray. Children "drive" the
trucks through the paint and then drive them onto the paper. Use a white crayon to label
each picture with the
artist's name. Very little paint is actually used so that these dry
before the party is over.
Fire Truck Prints
Purchase paint sponges or paint stamps ;Fire truck, hydrant, hats etc. ,
washable kid's paint (red and yellow) and paper from you local craft
supply store. Cover your work area. Place a small amount of the red and yellow paint into foam meat trays or
pie tins. Add the a few sponges to each tray. The children will gentle
press the paint covered sponge onto their paper as many times as they
want.
