Barbie In The 12 Dancing Princesses Birthday Party
Dance into your daughter's next birthday party, with this
Barbie in the 12 Dancing Princesses party guide, including
birthday party games, crafts and decorating ideas.

Planning your daughter's party can be fun and stress-free. Give yourself plenty of time, we recommend 4-6 weeks. Save time, by ordering your Barbie & the 12 Dancing Princesses party supplies on-line. Then, add some of the birthday party games, crafts and activities provided below to host a very special little girl's Barbie party!

DANCING PRINCESSES PARTY INVITATIONS
Mail invitations 2-3 weeks before your party date, if possible.
Send purchased Barbie invitations to match your theme.
Or, you can make your own using cardstock paper. Cut Genevieve's
favorite pink opal or rose shapes. Add sparkle using very fine glitter dust (craft store). Write your message with a gel pen.
"The Royal Princess Genevieve cordially invites you to celebrate
the birthday of ________"

Add sprinkle of glitter in the envelope for a special touch. If hand
delivery is possible, tie the invitation to a Barbie lollipop, lip gloss,
or imitation pink rose.

BARBIE IN THE 12 DANCING PRINCESSES PARTY DECORATIONS
The colors of choice are pink and lavender. You may want to add the
colors of your daughter's favorite dancing princess. Cover and set the
table with Barbie & the 12 Dancing Princesses patterned items. We like to combine a few of the the themed items with simply use just a few pieces to accent solid colored party ware. This keeps the party table from looking overdone. Cover your table with a pink or lavendar opalescent table cloth.
Drape several strips of florist ribbon in matching colors down the center
of the table. Sprinkle some sequins for extra sparkle. Fashion a centerpiece with pink frosted cupcakes in a stand, a Barbie figurine or a pair of ballet slipper and a bouquet of balloons.
Tip: You may consider frosting the cupcakes in a variety
of colors, to match the princesses.

Turn your party area into a magical dancing room with elegant fabric over over the furniture; opalescent, tulle netting and satin.  Add imitation flowers, tissue flowers (your daughter can help), balloons and streamers.

For Extra Fun
The evil Rowena has removed all of the joy from the kingdom and now it's time for a change! Before the party cover your furniture and other areas, with gray and white fabric and other "gloomy" additions.
Prepare a basket of imitation flowers. Inflate balloons and place them in a garbage bag. Then, when all of the guests have arrived, tell them it's time to bring back joy and beauty to the kingdom. Play classical music, while the girls remove the gray sheets etc. and replace them with bright fabric, scattered flowers and balloons.

BARBIE IN THE 12 DANCING PRINCESSES PARTY GAMES & ACTIVITIES

The Party Begins...
Upon arrival, escort the girls to the Barbie makeover table, where they will receive a small amount of lipstick, blush and eye shadow. Then they can make themselves a tiara to wear during the party. You  may be able to find pre-cut tiara shapes at your local craft store. If not, cut them from poster board or craft foam and provide stick on jewels, markers and glitter pens for decorating. Once they are decorated fit the tiara to each guests head and secure with a stapler.

A Special Guest
Do you know a dance teacher? Invite her to come and teach a few basic ballet steps to your little party goers. Then play some classical music and the girls will delight in there own special Barbie ballet.

Dancing Tiles Game
When the 12 dancing princesses dance from tile to tile in there room, they discover that the floor opens up into a magical world, where they can dance to their hearts content.
Fashion magic tiles or stones with squares of felt. Use permanent marker,
or fabric paint to adorn the stones with the princesses favorite flowers.
Of course you can keep this simple by drawing basic flowers of different colors. To play, place the magic tiles in a circle formation. Play music from the Barbie In The 12 dancing Princesses movie, or classical music,
while the girls dance from tile to tile. Don't forget to encourage them to twirl three times every now and then, just like Genevieve and her sisters.
When the music stops, call out a color. The princess on that color flower will receive a small prize, like a sticker or candy.

"Pin the Slipper on the Dancer"
This variation of the classic Pin the Tail on the Donkey will match your Dancing Princesses party theme perfectly!
Draw a ballerina on a sheet of poster board. If drawing is not your thing, enlist a talented teen. They’ll be happy to earn a little extra cash for fun project. Then make slippers  out of paper. Your daughter can help with
this job. Make enough ballet slippers for each player.
To play, blindfold each child in turn, spinning them around three times.
Then they'll attempt to stick the ballet slipper on, or close to the correct spot on the poster. You may want to go through the line two times.
Using reusable adhesive, makes it possible to have multiple turns.
Variation:
Create a Pin the tail on Twyla the Cat game as a variation.
Tip:
Many children are too timid for blindfolding. Allow these
player to simply close their eyes.

Pass the Dancing Shoe Game
Play this game just as you would "Hot Potato".
Position the girls into a circle. Pass a ballet slipper from player to player, while music is playing. When the music stops, the player holding the slipper will sit in the center for one round, or she can be in charge of the music for one round. When the game comes to an end, surprise your dancing princesses with a plastic gem prize.
Variation:
You can use other items such as a tiara, or princess wand instead of the ballet slipper.

Hide and Seek Flowers and Gems
Each princess in the Twelve Dancing Princesses movie, has a
favorite gem and flower. The evil Duchess Rowena has hidden all of the beautiful gems and flowers in the kingdom and the girls will search for them.
Before the birthday party, hide silk flowers and plastic gemstones throughout the party area. then send the girls on a hunt to find them.
They each get to keep their treasures to take home.

TWELVE DANCING PRINCESSES PARTY CRAFTS
Barbie's Jewels
Bead jewelry with string and plastic beads.

Pretty as a Princess Frame
Decorate craft foam picture frames (craft store) with glitter glue and stick on jewels. Use a Polaroid or digital camera and printer, to take pictures when the girls are all dressed up. Each girl will receive their own picture
and frame to take home.

Make and Take Princess Body Glitter
Girls can mix their own body glitter with this simple recipe.
You'll Need
cup aloe vera gel
fine polyester glitter (any color, available at most craft stores)
One small cosmetic travel container for each girl -
the kind you might put hand cream in with a screw top.
To Make: Fill the containers 1/4 full with aloe gel.
Pour a small amount of glitter in the container. Provide wood craft sticks or plastic coffee stir straws to the girls for mixing. Add more gel until the mix is complete. Close the lid. Decorate sticker labels with gel pens and attach it to the container.

BARBIE IN THE 12 DANCING PRINCESSES PARTY FAVORS
Use Soft net fabric Squares 10"x10"
Fill with a few candies, hair clips, stickers, jewelry...

BARBIE CAKE

This cake can be a bit tricky to make. I used a heat resistant bowl and a real  dis-mantled Barbie to make this cake. I learned my lesson and next time will use a Wilton's dome shaped cake pan and a doll pick!
Wilton's also provides easy to follow directions. Be sure to completely cool your cake. I always remove the crumbs and place the cake into the freezer for several hours before frosting. Use a plastic spatula to frost the dress shape and a decorating tube to make the flowers, lace and dress top.
