PARTY INVITATIONS
Send invitations 2-3 weeks in advance.
Create your own invitations with card stock paper. There are several way to decorate your card; Miss spider stickers or finger print drawings are our favorites. To make the fingerprint drawings you'll need colored stamp pads and markers. Use your finger and thumb prints to make the bug bodies and then add legs eyes wings etc. with the markers.
The message on the front of the card can say...
"Every-Buggy is invited to Sunny Patch to wish _______
a Happy Hatch Day!"
Write your party details on the back of the card.
MISS SPIDER PARTY DECORATIONS
Start with basic party decorations; streamers, balloons and tableware.
Remember, that this age group does not require elaborate decorations.
A few spider webs, butterflies hanging from the ceiling and fun bug toys
are a nice touch. Place gummi bugs and worms on the table.
Use a large appliance box to make the Hollow Tree, for the kids
to play in during the party.
The Party Begins
Upon arrival every-buggy
can receive a simple dragon fly, bug
or spider web on their cheek with face paint, and an antennae head band.
Purchase the buggy headbands or make your own with headbands,
chenille stems and Styrofoam balls.
Also provide a coloring table with Miss Spider coloring sheets from the
Internet and crayons. This provides a focus while all of the guests
arrives.

MISS SPIDER PARTY GAMES AND ACTIVITIES
Select one or two games and one craft. Much more can be
overwhelming for little ones. End your party with a quiet
circle time. Sing the Itsy Bitsy Spider and read a Miss Spider story.
Miss Spider...Bean Bag Toss
Before the party, make a large cut out of Miss Spider using yellow poster board
or felt and black paper for the legs. Make Miss Spider's eyes and legs
but not her black spots. Provide several black bean bags. Place the
poster on the floor. Players help the Miss Spider
"get her spots back", by taking turns tossing black bean bags onto Miss
Spider's body.
Pin the Bug on the Leaf
Play like Pin the Tail on the Donkey.
Shimmer, Dragon and Squirt need to find their way to the green leaf...
Draw a large green leaf, or honey suckle flower on a sheet of poster board.
Provide a paper dragon fly, spider etc. for each child. Use double sided
tape at game time. Young children may not want to wear a blindfold, but they can close their eyes. Then gently spin each player 3 times before they try to get the bug onto the
leaf ...don't forget...eyes closed!
For an added touch place the bugs onto paper webs -- web surfing is very
popular in Sunny Patch!
Tip: Your local craft store may have sticky-backed, foam dragon flies
which work fabulously for this game.
Web Surfing with Squirt
This game is similar to Musical Chairs.
Cut large poster board or felt leaves. Make one leaf per child. Place the
"leaves" randomly around the play area. Explain to the guests that they are going to
"web surf" like Squirt while music is playing (lively classical music).
When the music stops they must find a leaf to land on.
For additional fun...
Before the party select some small prizes or treats and write a number on it with
permanent marker or a sticker. Then write a corresponding number on each leaf. When the last round of the game is
played, the players will receive the prize that corresponds to the number on their leaf.
Miss Spider Craft
All of the little spiders will create their own bug-buddies with
chenille stems and Styrofoam balls (white or colored).
Before the party, cut the chenille stems in half to make them
easier to manage for little hands. Make the legs by inserting
the chenille stems into the Styrofoam balls. You can help the
children make eyes with markers.
Spider Handprints

This craft is fun to make, but can be messy. Cover your work area and
provide smocks - oversized men's shirts work well.
You'll need
Construction paper, kid's paint and plastic google eyes,
Styrofoam meat trays, white glue
Place a small amount of paint in meat trays. Have the children
dip there hands into the paint, and then onto the paper; wrists
together and fingers out. After the paint has dried a few minutes,
add the eyes with a drop of glue. You can try to get the eyes
to stick to the wet paint but a drop of glue should still be added.
Story Time
End your party with a quiet Miss Spider Story
or a recorded episode
of the Miss Spider show. this also a great time to quietly color.
