The Backyardigans Birthday Party - Birthday Party Ideas
Host a Backyardigans birthday party adventure, with these birthday party games, Backyardigans party supplies and activities designed with your preschool aged birthday child and guests in mind!

The Backyardigans Birthday Party Supplies
For stress-free party planning, order your Backyardigans birthday
party supplies on-line; decorations, prizes, table ware and party favors... everything you need for your party! Then, add these party games, decorating tips, and fun activities to complete your party plan!
Keep in mind that this birthday party is for very young children.
Short and simple is in order.

BACKYARDIGANS BIRTHDAY PARTY DECORATIONS
If weather permits, host your birthday party outdoors, in the backyard of course. Otherwise, create an open indoor space where children will have plenty of room to roam. The Backyardigans television show has already selected your color scheme with their bright and cheery characters.
Add matching tableware, decorations, balloons and maybe a few posters
or these easy to use Backyardigans wall stickers
Create a playful environment by providing balls in a variety of shapes and colors, Backyardigans toys, and a pretend playhouse you can make yourself with a large appliance or moving box. Cut a few holes to fashion doors and windows. Then, allow the children to color the house throughout the party as an additional activity.

If you really want to indulge your creative side, combine your themed party supplies with decorations based on one of the Backyardigans adventures like the High Seas, the Frozen North, or the Wild West.
One of our readers, created an indoor backyard with plants and trees she made herself, using butcher paper, and newsprint rolls (ask your local newspaper...they are usually free!)

A Special Backyardigans Party Welcome
Upon arrival, give each child a cap, so they can be their favorite Backyardigan Character; fuchsia, orange, blue, yellow and purple. A few days before the party, affix large plastic eyes to the caps, using fabric glue.

THE BACKYARDIGANS PARTY GAMES & ACTIVITIES
When entertaining young children at a birthday party, you'll want to provide un-structured activities. Our favorites are "the 3 B's"...balls, bubbles and boxes (large appliance boxes). As you know, these activities will entertain children for an extended period of time. Add some Backyardigans stuffed toys, puppets and simply supervise the play time.

Time for a Musical Adventure
The focus of the Backyardigans series is pretend play.
So, this addition to your party is a natural.
Provide dress up items; pirate hats, capes; cowboy hats etc.
Play some Backyardigans Music and let the children dance and sing-a-long to create their own musical!

Follow Pablo
If the children are old enough, play "Follow Pablo". This is played just like
Follow the Leader, only the leader will wear a beanie cap. Remember, that
Pablo does everything with high energy and maybe a bit faster than everybody else!

Music Time

Use paper towel tubes, paper plates or plastic eggs to make instruments. Decorate with markers, stickers and preschool-friendly decorations.
When the instruments are complete, play the Groove to the Music, Backyardigans CD and let the children play along.

EXTRA BIRTHDAY PARTY ACTIVITIES
When entertaining young children it's always a good idea
to have "back-up" party activities prepared.
Coloring
Print coloring sheets from the nickjr.com, or purchase a few coloring books. Place them on a table or mat with crayons, for the kids to enjoy throughout the birthday party.
Nick Junior also provides some fun activity ideas, free printer crafts and more.
Play Dough
A play dough table is perfect for this age group.
Before the party, make a batch or two of fresh play dough in bright colors
of course. Protect the work surface and provide rollers, cookie cutters etc.

Quiet Time
End the party with a showing of a Backyardigans DVD

Rainbow Punch
Make a rainbow in a cup!
Use ice cube trays to freeze several Kool-Aid or juice flavors in bright colors; red, purple, orange, yellow, green. To serve, place all of the cubes in a bowl and let the children fill their cups with the colored cubes.
Pour a clear or light colored soda in the cup.

Party Favors
Large party favors are not necessary. But, it is important to teach
your child how to show gratitude by giving a small thank-you gift;
coloring books an crayons, playdoh with cookie cutters, or a sheet of stickers with cardstock paper and some markers are perfect for this Backyardigans theme.
Kit's Tip: You may also want to purchase some small Backyardigan beanie toys to serve not only as table decorations, but as favors as well when
the party has come to an end.
