Inauguration Day Craft - Bead a Barack Obama Necklace

This beading Inauguration craft is perfect as a classroom and scout troop activity or your child may just want to make the necklace at home and wear it on Inauguration Day!

You’ll  Need:

Printed image of Barack Obama (about a one inch size)
Pony beads – red, white, blue, silver
Skinny ribbon or thread
Cardstock paper
Hole punch
Glue stick

How to Make It:
Size print and cut the image of Obama and then glue it onto a piece of cardstock paper. You can easily find images on the Internet.
The paper should be long enough that you can make the hole in the top without harming the image.
Punch the hole in the center at the top.

Measure and cut a length of ribbon long enough, so that when it’s tied you can easily place it over a child’s head.  Fold the ribbon in half and place it through the hole. You are going to be making a slipknot…at least that is what I think it’s called. The images make explain the how to make your loop better than words can.

Now you should have a ribbon with the image at the bottom and two separate lengths of ribbon on which you can add the beads.
Then tie a knot at the end.
