How to Make a May Basket for May Day
Rekindle an old tradition.

When my daughter was four, I helped her put together a small May Basket for her grandmother. She arrived at the door step and "Granny" was delighted. She had not received a May Basket in many many years and thought the tradition had died. My little one was so pleased, she's made a basket every year since, for a neighbor or friend.
You'll need:
A plastic berry basket
Construction paper cut in narrow
strips or "curly ribbon" will do well.
Tissue paper or cellophane wrap
and a potted 4"inch pot of pansies or
any outside plant.
These can usually be purchased
for under $1.00 this time of year.
First weave the paper or ribbon through the wholes of the strawberry basket. Then place tissue paper inside with the edges above the basket. Place the potted plant (with the plastic pot) inside and you're done! Add a homemade card or flower poem. Surprise an elderly neighbor, relative or teacher. The response is sure to bring a smile to your little ones face and warm the recipients heart !
Happy Spring!
