Family Inauguration Day Party and Family Celebration
You don’t have to be particularly political to note that this 44th inauguration is an historic event; the election of Barack Obama marks a change in more than 200 year of US history. On January 20th 2009 the first African American president will be inaugurated into office and that is an occasion to celebrate.

Besides we haven’t had a family celebration since the holidays and it’s another 3 weeks before Valentine’s day…so this fanatically festive mom needs a reason to party!
Serve some patriotic treats, make a craft and set a presidential table...
Use this video and the links below to get the party started!

Family Party Play
End the evening drinking your tasty hot cocoa while playing a family inauguration game. Use a presidential trivia game or you can even make your own Obama trivia game acquiring information readily available on the internet. You’ll also find presidential word searches and fact sheets on-line. To play a game with little ones try a hide and seek game using coins that have been hidden around the house. Encourage the players to learn the names of the presidents on the coins.

Inauguration Crafts for Kids
Make a "Yes, We Can!"  craft, or bead an Obama necklace to wear - super ideas to make at home, in a classroom or with your scout troop.
