How to make Recipe Gift Jars
Set aside a Saturday to make these thoughtful gifts
for teachers, neighbors or family.
Recipe
Gift Jars are decorated canning jar gifts containing
the packed dry ingredients for a recipe. Attach a recipe
tag for
the wet ingredients and baking instructions.
These gifts are easy to make and you can add
your own
special touch to the lids. For the most part the products
are inexpensive. Buying the ingredients in bulk will cut down
the cost even more!
What you'll need:
Wide mouth canning jars (1 quart) with lids,
7-8 inch squares of fabric, ribbon, recipe cards or printed notes, select recipes and ingredients listed below
Making the top:
For lids, cut out a 7-8 inch (across) circle, using "pinking"
shears to edge the fabric. Place the canning jar lid in
the center of your fabric and put the ring around the lid
to securely fasten the material in place.
-
Add cotton balls underneath the fabric to
give it a quilt look.
-
Use a variety of fabrics to match the theme of your
gift; gingham, plaid, holiday fabric...Personalize the fabric for the individual receiving the gift.
- Use a Glue gun to attach Christmas ornaments to
the top or tie it on with ribbon.
