No time to read the paper? Try this simple solution.
You can read and your child can learn.
After having children, I found myself never knowing what was happening
in the world. The television news was too graphic for family viewing and
I was unable to forecast what would be on the air.
And forget the Newspaper...the interruptions were constant...
What's a Mom or Dad to do?
Teach the "5 W's" of journalism. What, Why, Who, Where, and When. Select an appropriate article. Read aloud to your kids and see how many
of the 5 W's they can remember. This is a terrific language builder.
If you have older children that show an interest, they can write an article about their school , friends, activities etc. Often if spend a few minutes
of focused time with your kids they will go off and play independently. Leaving you to your reading.
I'd walk a mile for one of your smiles!
Transform an ordinary neighborhood walk with your
child,
into an extraordinary adventure.
You'll need a sunny day, free time and a coin. When you go through the front door
to take your walk, flip the coin.
If
it lands on tails, your walk starts by turning left.
If its heads, turn right. Continue doing this at every corner.
What a great opportunity to giggle
with your kids and spend time chatting.
Family Art Day
Pick a day of the month to spend time creating with your kids.
You don’t have to be an artist. Let your kids see you try new challenge.
It can be simple:
A collage with magazine pictures, water colors,
modeling clay etc. Play music, make popcorn and you have an instant Family Art Time.
You and your children will cherish this time together.
