The Next time you all sit down for a meal try this Brain Teaser with your kids. It works their mind and develops their Language skills. Oh, and by the way they will think it's fun!
Many of the products we keep around the house have two names. We use the common brand name more often, than
the real name. See if your child can name or describe the
generic term for a brand name. Have them respond in the form
of a question like in the game Jeopardy!
EXAMPLE:
"Kleenex" -"What is facial tissue?"
"M&M's"-"what are candy-coated chocolates?"
To get you started:
JELL-O-flavored gelatin desert
Q-Tips - cotton swabs
XEROX-Photocopier
VELCRO-Hook and Loop fastener
BAND-AIDS-Plastic bandages
STYROFOAM-Plastic foam
VASELINE-Petroleum Jelly
CHAP STICK-Lip Balm
TEFLON-Non stick pan coating
You may get some different responses.
As long as it is close it's a right answer.
Grass Topped Friend
A friend or pet that requires only water and sun light.
You'll Need:
Shallow dish
Rubber bands
Grass seed
Sawdust
Old Nylon stocking
Cut a 10 inch piece of a nylon stocking to make a tube.
Close one end with a rubber band. Turn inside out and fill with 1-2 tablespoons of grass seed. Fill with firmly packed sawdust. Tie a knot with a rubber band to close.
Trim off any extra nylon.
This is the head.
Fill a bucket or large bowl with water. Soak the head in the
water for Approx. 5 minutes.
Remove and set in a shallow dish of water. Place in a sunny location.
The next day the "head" should be dry enough for you to
decorate with permanent markers or fabric paint.
Draw an animal or a face. Be creative!
In 10 - 12 days you will notice that a soft green head of hair/fur.
To maintain your Fuzzy friend keep it in a dish of water.
