1.
Cut a large heart out of the gray construction paper. This will be the mouse body. Show your kids how to fold a sheet of construction paper in half and cut half the heart shape. Then, when you unfold the paper: voila! You have your heart.
2.
Cut 2 small hearts out of the white construction paper for the mouse eyes.
3.
Cut 3 very small (smaller than the mouse eyes) hearts from the pink contruction paper. 1 of these will be the mouse nose, and 2 of these will be the pupils (inside the mouse eyes).
4.
Use your hole punch to punch a hole in the top middle of the heart right below the crevice between the two round parts of the heart. Weave the red yarn through this hole and tie it off, leaving one loose end very long to look like the mouse tail.
5.
Assemble your mouse. Before gluing anything down lay out all the pieces to make sure you like how your mouse looks. The 2 white heart eyes should go near the pointed tip of the gray heart. The 2 pink pupils will be glued on top of the white eyes. The point of the pink mouse nose should be glued to the point of the gray heart.
6.
Glue the pipe cleaners over the nose criss-crossing them to look like whiskers.
7.
Once the glue has completely dried, write your message on the mouse body using your marker. Try: "I love you more than cheese!" or "I'll share my cheese if you'll be mine." For far-away friends, try: "I mouse you!"
