Get creative this Mother's Day with homemade arts and crafts! You can plant real flowers for Mom in a flower box garden, or you can create flowers with the Flower Door Stop Craft!

Materials

• 1 coffee can with lid
• sand
• florist picks or pipe cleaners
• florist wire

• paper or felt
• fabric or acrylic paint
• glue

Instructions

1.
Paint the outside of the can with paint (or use glue to cover with fabric).
2.
When it is dry, paint your Mother's Day message ("Happy Mother's Day","I love my Mom", etc.). You may want to paint the date on the back of the can as well.
3.
Make 3 to 5 flowers using paper or felt. Glue the flowers onto the florist picks or pipe cleaners. Add leaves if you wish.
4.
Fill the can with sand and secure the top.
5.
Arrange the flowers and poke them into the can top.

Tips

• Regular glue is often difficult with felt and pipe cleaners. You may want to use a glue gun (adults only) or use tape instead.
• You can use wire stemmed artificial flowers to save the step of creating the flowers.
