1. Choose one child to be "it." "It" may be selected from volunteers, by playing rocks-paper-scissors, or by picking slips of paper from a hat.
2. Designate one area of the play space to be the "safe zone."
3. "It" will chase the players, attempting to tag them. If tagged, a player must freeze and remain frozen. Only another player can unfreeze a frozen player by crawling though his legs.
4. Players are safe from being tagged and frozen if they are touching the "safe zone."
5. The last remaining player who is not frozen becomes the new "it."
