Are your kids bored? Is a trip to the planetarium too expensive? Try this boredom busting activity and create your own Home Planetarium!

What You Need
  • frozen juice can
  • tape or rubber band
  • flashlight
  • paper
Instructions
    1.
Fold the paper and cut out small stars, diamonds, and circles (just like making a paper snowflake, but leave more paper).
    2.
Cut both ends from the juice can.
    3.
Wrap the star paper around one end of the juice can, securing it with tape or rubber band.
    4.
Insert the flashlight into the open end of the can.
    5.
Turn out the lights. Turn on the flashlight and shine it towards the ceiling or wall. Shining the flashlight at an angle against the can will decrease distortion.
Tips
  • Older children may want to research real constellations and recreate them onto the paper. Your local library will have plenty of books to help.
