On rainy cold days, when your kids and you are housebound, it's great to come up with creative boredom busters like this fun Indoor Sandbox.

What You Need
  • large plastic storage tub (22-inches x 15-inches width x 12-inches) with the snap or fliptop lid
  • rice, flax seed, or oats
  • spoons, cups
Instructions
    1.
Fill the storage tub up half way with rice, flax seed, or oats.
    2.
Place the tub on a surface that is easy to sweep.
    3.
Give your kids spoons and cups for playing in the Indoor Sandbox.
Tips
  • Flax seed can be purchased at a health food store in a 20-pound bag. Rice, however, is half the price. Oatmeal is fun, but a bit messier and may cause your floor to be slippery. Rotate the filling now and then to add to the exploration and for sanitary reasons.
  • Clean up is a cinch: simply close up the tub and sweep. No sandy shoes, hair, or pockets.
