Recipe Gift Jars are decorated canning jars containing the packed dry ingredients for a recipe. These Gift Jars are easy crafts to make, and you can add your own special touch to the lids. Try packing Brownie Mix, Butterscotch Brownie, or the Party Cookie Mix! They make great (and delicious) gifts!

Materials

• wide mouth canning jars (1 quart) with lids
• 7 to 8 inch squares of fabric, ribbon

• recipe cards or printed notes
• "pinking" shears

Instructions

1. For lids, cut out a 7 to 8 inch (across) circle, using "pinking" shears to edge the fabric.

2. Place the canning jar lid in the center of your fabric and put the ring around the lid to securely fasten the material in place.

3. Pack recipe ingredients into jar.

4. Securely fasten lid.

5. Attach recipe and instructions to jar.

Tips

• Buying the recipe ingredients in bulk will cut down the cost even more!
• Add cotton balls underneath the fabric to give it a quilt look.
• Use a variety of fabrics to match the theme of your gift: gingham, plaid, holiday fabric. Personalize the fabric for the individual receiving the gift.
• Use a glue gun to attach Christmas ornaments to the top or tie it on with ribbon.
